The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said in a statement on Thursday that it was “deeply concerned by the climate of intimidation in which journalists covering the upcoming elections are being forced to work.”
“In recent weeks, local and foreign correspondents have been subjected to harassment and even violence by politicians and other individuals associated with the ZANU-PF,” the statement said.
It called on the government to “issue a public guarantee” that all journalists in Zimbabwe would be free to cover this weekend’s election.
