The situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo will probably be discussed when Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni meets his South African counterpart Thabo Mbeki this weekend, South Africa’s Foreign Affairs Department said on Thursday.
The agenda for the meeting had not been finalised yet, deputy director-general for Africa Welile Nhlapo told reporters in Pretoria. He said he thought it was necessary for Mbeki and Museveni to exchange views, especially in view of the fact that Mbeki could not attend a recent meeting with Museveni and the presidents of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and Tanzania, Benjamin Mkapa, about the matter.
