World bank funds for health reforms

The World Bank has approved US $6.5 million to assist Lesotho in improving access to quality preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services. The World Bank said in a statement that Lesotho had made impressive gains in the improvement in health over the past 20 years. But the demands associated with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis had strained the capacity of the health care system. “The project will respond to building the capacity of the health system to perform cost-effectively and assist institutions to design and undertake strategies which will enable the health system to anticipate and cope with the increasing demands upon it,” the Bank said.
