The South African police, together with their Mozambican counterparts, will begin a three-week operation today called Operation Rachel to recover weapons left over from Mozambique’s civil war, news reports said on Monday.
Jackie Selebi, Police Commissioner, was quoted as saying the operation was first planned four years ago after it was realised that most of the illegal weapons used in South Africa originated from Mozambique.
