A group of 40 to 40 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels who entered Hoima District at the weekend were now trapped and being heavily shelled by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces in Muzizi Forest, the semi-official ‘New Vision’ reported on Tuesday. The rebels had come from Kibale District through Bugoma forest, and before that from Beni in eastern DRC, it reported. The rebel group had uprooted people’s crops for food and abducted people as guides before later releasing them, the ‘New Vision’ quoted Hoima District Commissioner Simon Mulongo as saying. Heavy shelling had continued on the ADF’s suspected hideouts in Muzizi for the fourth straight day on Monday, the paper quoted UPDF spokesman Major Phineas Katirima as saying.
