Eritrean presidential spokesman Yemane Gebremeskel called on the OAU and the UN to ensure that Ethiopia withdrew its troops from Eritrea, now that Eritrea had fulfilled its pledge to pull out of disputed territories. “It is the OAU and the UN that are the guarantors of the agreement. The OAU and the UN must ensure that Ethiopia withdraws from redeployed territory and stops fighting. It is as simple as that,” he said. If the OAU could not solve the crisis, Yemane said it should take the matter to the UN Security Council.
