Freed detainees arrive in Freetown

    ABIDJAN

    Twenty-nine freed detainees who had been in Liberian custody were flown back to Sierra Leone on Thursday, UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said. This brought to 233 the number of UN personnel detained by the RUF and then released via the Liberian border town of Foya, Eckhard said. The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) still holds some 254 UN peacekeepers.
