About 50 invaders occupying the vast farm owned by former white minority premier of Rhodesia, Ian Smith, had started carving out small private plots for themselves to reclaim ownership of their ancestral land, media reports said.
Gwenara Farm, in southern Zimbabwe, stretches over 200 hectares. Smith, 81 raises cattle and grows maize on the farm. Occupied on 15 May, it is one of more than 700 white farms taken over in Zimbabwe since February by liberation war veterans and their supporters.
