The price of petrol and diesel will as of Wednesday increase by 3 percent.
This is the second increase in four weeks, news reports said Monday.
Last month the Ministry announced that it was contemplating the feasibility of reviewing fuel prices on a monthly basis in order to smooth out fuel price fluctuations.
The Ministry attributed the fuel price increase mainly to a backlog on the National Energy Fund which had been depleted due to price subsidisation and the depreciation of the South African rand in relation to the major trading currency, the United States dollar.
