The former head of the former Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) Johnny Paul Koroma has called on pro-government forces to show a sense of responsibility and discipline in defending their country, the Sierra Leone News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Speaking to over 1,000 Sierra Leone Army (SLA) forces, Koroma said that the government was doing everything possible to get them in “full combat readiness”. He added that with the cooperation of the people, the SLA would bring peace.
Koroma is a former ally of the RUF, which has been holding nearly 500 UNAMSIL troops since last week, sparking the current crisis. Since then Koroma has called on his forces to support pro-government forces against the rebels.
