On Sunday, two ZANU-PF supporters were detained by police during a scuffle at an MDC rally in Masvingo which was addressed by Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai, who criticised the police for failing to provide sufficient security, said his party would not be intimidated by ZANU-PF, which was trying to stop him campaigning.
The people know who they want to vote for,” he said. Asked by a television reporters whether he was afraid, he said: “I am not afraid, I know the risks.”
In his speech, he said the MDC would provide better health and education and seek to redress the country’s economic crisis.
A party spokesman said four MDC representatives were also arrested at the rally and their vehicle impounded. Police said although no charges had been filed, the four were allegedly involved in the scuffle.
