A court in Harare has postponed sentencing war veterans leader Chenjerai Hunzvi, news reports said on Friday.
The request for the postponement came from lawyers of the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU). “We had been prepared for the sentencing on Friday. But the matter has been put back to 19 May at the request of commercial farmers,” Hunzvi defence lawyer Arthur Musungu said after the court hearing. He added:
“Were baffled by this. This is a simple ruling and we cannot see justification for delaying.” Hunzvi was found in contempt of court on 19 April for failing to end farm occupations by war veterans.
