Uganda has sent a special envoy to Kigali for talks with Rwandan officials following renewed tension between troops of the two countries in the DRC city of Kisangani. Ugandan army chief of personnel and administration Brigadier Steven Kashaka held informal discussions with senior Rwandan army officers on the Congo situation, among other issues, Rwandan presidential assistant, Major Emmanuel Ndahiro told IRIN. He described the meetings as “useful”. Relations between Rwanda and Uganda, formerly close allies, have been frosty since their troops clashed in Kisangani last year.
