RRA wants reconciliation with rival clan

The Rahanweyn Resistance Army (RRA), which controls parts of southern Somalia, has called for international intervention to bring about reconciliation with a rival clan in the south, AFP reported. The RRA, which is drawn from the Digil Mirifle clan, has appealed to Yemen, Ethiopia, Kenya and Italy, to help reconcile it with the Habr Gedir. AFP noted that the two sub-clans predominate in the Lower Shabelle and Middle Juba regions. “The RRA is willing to solve the crisis peacefully, rather than by force, and is therefore appealing for logistic support for such a peace meeting to Presidents Ali Abdallah Saleh of Yemen and Daniel arap Moi of Kenya, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and Italian envoy to Somalia, Francesco Sciortino,” the RRA said in a statement.
