Canada provides funds for improving education

Canada has committed CAN $ 50 million (US $33.8 million) to help raise the quality of education in Senegal, the Canadian Minister for International Cooperation, Maria Minna, announced last week during a meeting with Senegalese Prime Minister Moustapha Niasse in Dakar. “Canada is supporting Senegal’s determined efforts to ensure all its children - girls and boys - have the opportunity to receive quality primary education,” said Minna, who led Canada’s delegation to the World Education Forum in the Senegalese capital. “Senegal is devoting fully one-third of its national budget to education and has developed a 10-year plan which puts top priority on basic education,” a press release from the Canadian government quoted her as saying.
