World Bank gives more aid

The World Bank announced on Thursday that it had pledged US $375 million in new assistance to Zambia to be disbursed over the next two to three years, news agencies reported.

The World Bank mission in Zambia reportedly said in a statement: “Over the next two to three years, disbursements of existing projects will total US $400 million, over and above the proposed US $375 million of programmed new assistance to the people of Zambia.”

The new cash was expected to be put to removing the obstacles to sustained diversified growth, improving economic governance and providing increased access for Zambians to basic services.
