Private medical fees increased

The cost of private medical consultations has increased considerably, AFP reported local media as saying. The increases in the fees for consultations, home visits and medical certificates, which are between 25 and 48 percent in some cases, were set by the private doctors’ union, AFP reported. The country’s medical insurance schemes, which spend more than half of their funds towards their members’ medical expenses, said they were worried by the price increase. They said it constituted a “serious threat to access to health care” in the country.
