Four die in fresh border zone ambush

Four people were killed and four others seriously wounded at the weekend when armed men wearing military uniforms ambushed a mini-van taxi in Namibia’s remote northeast Caprivi Strip, just south of the Angolan border, police said. In a statement, the police blamed the attack on UNITA rebels and said those who died included three nurses. The ambush occurred on Friday evening some 50 km from the place where three French tourists were ambushed and killed two weeks ago. According to the police, the survivors said the armed gang spoke Portuguese and wore green army uniforms similar to UNITA fatigues.
