International tribunal to settle territorial dispute

The International Court of Justice in The Hague is scheduled to announce in coming weeks the outcome of a territorial dispute between Namibia and Botswana it has been considering for most of the year. According to Namibian media reports, an announcement will be made a week before the judges make their final ruling. Namibia and Botswana had asked the court to determine their boundary around the disputed Kasikili-Sedudu island in the Chobe River which lies at the eastern extremity of where the two borders converge. Both countries have said they will abide by the court’s decision.
