Fire at Kaduna under control

A fire at the Kaduna oil refinery was quickly brought under control on Friday as technicians conducted routine maintenance on the plant, an official told Reuters. It said production was unaffected at the facility that refines 110,000 barrels a day. Operations resumed at the plant in February after a two-year shut down for refurbishment undertaken by the French oil giant, Total. Nigeria’s four refineries have a combined capacity to refine some 445,000 barrels of crude, Reuters said, but poor maintenance has often left them operating below capacity leading occasionally to long lines at petrol stations.
