Wezi Kaunda, the son of the former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda, was laid to rest on Tuesday after a service at the Anglican Cathedral in the Zambian capital Lusaka, news reports said.
Wezi Kaunda was shot and killed last week in what police said was a car hijacking but which his family believes was a political assassination. Wezi Kaunda, 47, was forced out of his car and shot several times just outside his home in Lusaka last week. A bus driver has been charged with his murder. Police say a second suspect, who was arrested on Sunday, was to face chages on Tuesday.
A family spokeswoman said they were convinced there was a political motive behind the murder. But the former president appealed for calm during the service which he said people from all political factions were free to attend.
