Airline begins flights to DRC

Air Zimbabwe at the weekend started regular flights to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), PANA reported on Tuesday. Air Zimbabwe said it would fly once-a-week on Saturdays to Kinshasa and Lubumbashi in a joint venture with a DRC carrier, Lignes Aerienes Congolais. The venture further enhances ties between the two countries that started when Robert Mugabe’s government sent troops to the war-torn country to help President Laurent Kabila fight an armed insurrection by rebels backed by Uganda and Rwanda.
