UNHCR to proceed with repatriation of 350

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will assist in the repatriation of 350 refugees from the Republic of Congo (ROC) currently residing in the Kimaza camp of neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). UNHCR announced this on Wednesday at the end of a two-day tripartite meeting in the DRC capital, Kinshasa, among authorities of the DRC, RoC and UNHCR. The tripartite commission resolved to conduct at a later date an information campaign for the refugees regarding their voluntary repatriation. Similarly, the commission agreed to visit refugee sites in Likouala, northern ROC, sometime during the period of 25 March to 7 April as part of an effort to begin planning for the voluntary repatriation of Congolese who fled the DRC. During this same period, a revised version of the 10 April 1999 tripartite accord would be signed at a meeting to be held in Brazzaville, capital of the ROC. The commission noted that discussions took place in a "fraternal and cordial manner".
