Free female condoms supplied against AIDS

Banja Lamtsogolo (BLM), a sexual and reproductive health NGO is tackling HIV/AIDS among Malawi's women by handing out free female condoms. BLM community outreach manager, Clement Naunje, said 20,000 condoms were being distributed through youth organisations in the country's three regions. Naunje hoped the condoms would serve to empower women who usually rely on their male counterparts when it comes to safer sex. "It has always been difficult for women to have the courage of telling a man to put on a condom whenever they are having sex, but this time around they will have a chance to protect themselves," Naunje told the local Chronicle newspaper.
