ICASA gains review announced

    JOHANNESBURG
    African leaders are to meet in Nigeria to discuss progress and strategies in their fight against HIV/AIDS, Nigeria's official news agency NAN has reported. Babatunde Osotimehin, chairman of Nigeria's National Action Committee on AIDS, said the meeting in May would be a review of last year's 14th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA). Among the issues discussed at ICASA was a leadership forum, where leaders and administrators are made to account for the funds they have received and report on the implementation of programmes for tackling AIDS in their countries. According to Osotimehin, the follow-up meeting was vital, as there was a need to monitor what action had been taken on the recommendations made in 2005.
