The Namibian Health Ministry has said sexual behaviours remain unchanged, despite increased awareness and knowledge about the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
According to the ministry's technical adviser, Dr Anne Frische, although condoms were being used during sexual intercourse, consistent use was questionable.
The local Namibian newspaper quoted Frische as saying, "People do use condoms ... but it's like brushing your teeth - some people don't brush their teeth every night because they're too tired."
With this in mind, Frische said it was imperative that government and NGOs strengthen the steps they were taking to combat the pandemic.
