Medical cooperation discussed with India

    JOHANNESBURG

    Uganda is hoping to exchange medical knowledge with India in the fields of anti-AIDS and malarial treatment.

    Ugandan Vice-President Gilbert Bukenya is currently meeting with officials of India's Cipla Ltd, a chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing firm in Mumbai, to consolidate an agreement of cooperation.

    Cipla, one of the world's leading manufacturers of antiretroviral drugs, has expressed an interest in investing in Uganda.

    According to Radio Uganda, under the agreement Cipla will assist Uganda in acquiring cheaper, high-quality anti-AIDS drugs.
