HIV testing urged to tackle AIDS

Global Business Coalition chief, Richard Holbrooke, says the best way to tackle HIV/AIDS is for people to know their HIV status.

The South African Press Association quoted Holbrooke as saying: "It is frightening that over 90 percent of people living with the virus worldwide do not know they have it. Unless people learn their HIV status, there is no way of stopping this horrible pandemic."

Holbrooke is visiting South Africa to encourage local business to do more to address the impact of the pandemic on their workers, and to launch guidelines for smaller businesses on how to encourage their staff to be tested for the disease.
