Treatment guide for HIV-positive people launched

    JOHANNESBURG

    Uganda this week launched an HIV/AIDS treatment handbook for the benefit of all HIV-positive people in the Great Lakes region.

    The manual was produced by the Community Health and Information Network (CHAIN), a local NGO, to serve as a guide to antiretroviral (ARV) therapy.

    CHAIN director William Babumba was quoted by a local newspaper, New Vision, as saying: "We believe that this handbook will be an invaluable tool for all HIV-positive patients who are on ARVs, and for those newly diagnosed and preparing to commence treatment."

    Babumba said the guide could soon be published in all local languages, depending on the availability of funds.
