AIDS-related labour loss predicted

    JOHANNESBURG

    Africa could lose one million workers to AIDS annually over the next decade if urgent action is not taken, the 4th African Development Forum (ADF) has warned.

    The Forum concluded its five-day deliberations in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, by urging national governments to develop practical but effective strategies to combat the pandemic.

    An ADF statement said, "Fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa implies an urgent recognition of its devastating impacts on governance, as well as concerted and coordinated action to mitigate its effects."
