Self-medication of AIDS dangerous - Ministry of Health

    People living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda have been warned against self-medication by the Ministry of Health. Sam Zaramba, the acting director-general of health services, stressed that antiretroviral drugs taken without medical supervision could be dangerous. "It is important for one to be assessed and guided by a trained health worker, whether he/she should use antiretroviral drugs," Zaramba was quoted by as saying by a local newspaper, New Vision. He advised people to go for voluntary counselling and testing so that they could access the free drugs being provided by the Ministry of Health.
