Children's organisation pledges AIDS millions

An international children's aid organisation, the Christian Children's Fund (CCF), has pledged more than US $22 million over four years to tackle HIV/AIDS in Uganda. CCF president John Schultz, currently on a three-day visit to the central African country, told a local newspaper, New Vision, that Uganda's success in combating HIV/AIDS had motivated the organisation's decision to expand its funding. "Because of the good results exhibited by our team here in Uganda, I am proud to announce an immediate increase in CCF Uganda's budget by an additional US $600,000, specifically to address the plight of children and youth affected and infected by AIDS," Schultz said. CCF also made a commitment to raise additional funding to assist people affected by the war in northern Uganda.
