Free anti-AIDS drugs for Gulu orphans

    JOHANNESBURG

    A project funded by USAID will provide free antiretroviral treatment to children living with HIV/AIDS in Northern Uganda's Gulu district, a local newspaper, The Monitor, reported.

    The Gulu district medical superintendent, Dr Felix Kaducu, said the programme being implemented by the Joint Clinical Research Centre and Gulu Referral hospital had already registered 63 children.

    Kaducu appealed to parents, relatives and community-based organisations working with HIV/AIDS orphans to register them at the centres.

    HIV-positive adults can also access anti-AIDS drugs at subsidised prices through the same programme.
