Intervention methods to counter the spread of HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe need to be redefined, says the country's 2003 Human Development Report.
The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Paul Mangwana, said while launching the report that since the HIV/AIDS battle had become more developmental, it was critical to adopt a developmental response in addition to the bio-medical response already in place.
Mangwana was quoted by a local newspaper, The Herald, as saying: "Adopting a developmental response will help in addressing the underlying factors driving the epidemic, such as poverty, vulnerability, culture and gender."
The report said it was equally important for all stakeholders to come together in crafting the new intervention methods.
