World Bank continues AIDS funding

    JOHANNESBURG
    The World Bank on Monday said allegations of corruption in Kenya's National AIDS Control Council (NACC) would not sway its decision on HIV/AIDS funding to the country. This follows reports of the World Bank threatening to withdraw AIDS project money due to allegations of corruption in the NACC. "I was disappointed to see the false assertion that the Bank had threatened to cut HIV/AIDS assistance over concerns of corruption," World Bank Country Director, Makhtar Diop, said in a statement. He welcomed the internal investigation currently being undertaken by the Office of the President and expressed confidence that appropriate action would follow the review.
