HIV testing for Zimbabwe's workers

    Zimbabwe has intensified workplace HIV/AIDS campaigns during its Workers' Day period from 1 to 10 May, the local Herald newspaper reported on Tuesday. Population Services International-Zimbabwe (PSI-Zimbabwe) has launched more "New Start Centres", expanding its network of centres offering free voluntary counselling and testing nationwide. PSI-Zimbabwe said an average of 9,000 people had already visited existing centres this year, compared to 4,500 last year. "We urge workers to take advantage of this initiative and go for counselling and testing at any New Start Centre," PSI-Zimbabwe deputy country director, Chuck Szymanski, said. Szymanski stressed that it was crucial for people to know their HIV status in order to make the necessary changes to a healthier lifestyle.
