AIDS programme must still raise funds

Uganda's AIDS Control Programme (UACP) on Wednesday said over US $578,000 was needed to sustain the country's existing HIV/AIDS programmes. The purpose of UACP is to scale up the national response to HIV/AIDS and coordinate all government and NGO HIV/AIDS interventions. "UACP recently met to discuss a budget for the various components of HIV/AIDS under the programme, and must still look at fund-raising methods," UACP medical coordinator, Dr Saul Onyango, told the UN news service PlusNews Onyango said the funds would be allocated accordingly once UACP had reached its suggested goal. "In the event of the money being raised, definite attention will be given to feeding options for HIV-positive mothers and the monitoring of their treatment," Onyango added.
