Pandemic won't ruffle NGO's feathers

An AIDS NGO on Thursday said until Zambia's government implements a national treatment plan, it will do what it can to comfort people living with HIV/AIDS. The comment follows the launch of a joint fundraising initiative on Tuesday between the Network of Zambian People Living with HIV/AIDS (NZP+) and poultry farmers, Verino Agro Industries. "All funds raised will be used to alleviate the suffering of the people who are living with HIV/AIDS," NZP+ national chairman, Martin Chisulo told the UN news service PlusNews. Chisulo said the initiative hopes to raise between US $3 to $4 million, where for every kilogram of Verino country chicken sold, US 2 cents goes towards the cause. UNAIDS estimates that 21 percent of the country's adults are infected with HIV/AIDS.
