International AIDS conference set for Kenya

    JOHANNESBURG

    Kenya has launched a national steering committee for the 13th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), the local Daily Nation newspaper reported on Wednesday.

    Minister of State, Chris Murungaru, said the September ICASA 2003 conference will be headed by the country's leading consultant dermatologist, Dr Malaki Owili.

    He said the conference will provide a forum where African scientists, political leaders and local communities can share responses to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

    "It is only through the interchange of ideas and experiences among people from diverse disciplines and cultures that solutions to the pandemic can be found," Murungaru added.
