International organisations must pressure the South African government to implement an HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention plan, AIDS lobby group the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) said on Tuesday.
The TAC plans to drive this point home during a march to mark the opening of parliament by the country's president Thabo Mbeki next month.
"We want this march to be the biggest national HIV/AIDS demonstration to show the will of the people in support of an HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention plan," the TAC said in a statement.
Last year the TAC threatened a national campaign of civil disobedience if the government failed to implement an HIV/AIDS plan.
"We cannot wait any longer for a visible and dynamic response from the government, business and international community," the TAC said.
