Ivorian president visits

    Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo arrived in Angola on Monday on a three-day visit seen as an important step in healing differences between the two countries over Abidjan’s past support for UNITA rebels, local media reported. Gbagbo said on Tuesday that his country would never be a base for Angola’s destabilisation, the state news agency reported. Cote d’Ivoire’s defence minister told journalists that by the end of June, no rebel elements would be allowed to use Ivorian passports. President Jose Eduardo dos Santos described the visit as a positive development in bilateral relations.
