A group of suspected UNITA rebels killed one villager and injured another at Muitjiku village, about 210 km east of Rundu in the Kavango region on Monday morning, ‘The Namibian’ reported.
The report said Namibian Defence Force (NDF) members at Bagani military base confirmed the attack but could not provide further details. They were quoted as saying that a team had been dispatched to the scene to assess the situation.
Meanwhile, seven armed men allegedly stole goods of an unknown quantity from a homestead at Sivara village, about 45 km from Rundu in the Kapako constituency. Villagers were quoted as saying that a 10-year-old boy was shot and wounded in the leg by a gunman who opened fire on the villagers.
