US military delegation to Asmara, Addis

A high-level United States military delegation paid a one day visit to Eritrea and Ethiopia on Tuesday. US Deputy Chief of Staff General Richard Myers held talks with Ethiopian Defence Minister Tefera Walwa and Ethiopian Chief of Staff Lt-Gen Tsadkan Gebretensae in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported. The discussions focused on the Ethiopian-Eritrean peace process and US-Ethiopian relations, said ENA.

On Tuesday the US delegation also held talks with Eritrean President Isayas Afewerki, and other senior officials in Asmara, according to Eritrean radio. The Eritrean leaders and the Americans discussed the peace process and bilateral issues. The delegation subsequently flew to Saudi Arabia on the same day, the radio said.
