Some 64 rebels killed

    NAIROBI

    Meanwhile, the Burundi army said it had killed 64 rebels in four days of fighting in central Burundi, news organisations reported. The Associated press (AP) quoted army spokesman Colonel Augustin Nzabampema as saying that in the fighting in Gitega and Mwaro, which began on 6 April, the army had been using mortars to flush the rebels out of the region.
