Minister says he will not support third term

    JOHANNESBURG

    Zambian Legal Affairs Minister, Vincent Malambo, said he would not support calls to change the constitution to allow President Frederick Chiluba to run for a third five-year term of office, SABC's Channel Africa said on Tuesday.

    Malambo was quoted as saying that he would defend the current constitution barring Chiluba from seeking another term after his present mandate expires at the end of this year. The report said that Malambo has been one of the few top government officials to speak out on calls by some members of the governing Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) to amend the country's laws in Chiluba's favour.
