Religious leader calls for removal of Comoros leader

The religious leader on the breakaway Comoros island of Anjouan, Salim Ali Abdou, has called for the forceful overthrow of the island's leader Lieutenant-Colonel Said Abeid Abderemane, SABC radio said on Monday. Reports said that Abdou was opposed to peace talks with the central government in Moroni brokered by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
