Japan has donated construction equipment that will be used in a potable-water supply project in Western Guinea, the Panafrican News Agency (PANA) reported on Monday. The Japanese donation includes a drilling machine, vehicles and other equipment for use in drilling wells that would provide drinking water for the local communities.
Its first phase would involve the drilling of 14 hand-pump wells. In total, 92 wells, including one with a solar pumping machine, are to be installed under the project, while seven existing wells are to be renovated, PANA reported.
This project is part of Guinea’s National Programme for Rural Water Supply.
