European Union envoy to the Great Lakes Region, Aldo Ajello on Wednesday consulted with President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe on efforts to resolve the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), news reports said on Thursday.
Ajello was quoted as saying after the meeting that the two shared the view that all warring factions should stick to the Lusaka cease-fire agreement and refrain from taking advantage of President Laurent-Desire Kabila's death. The EU envoy has already been to Angola. Ajello was scheduled to travel to South Africa for similar talks with President Thabo Mbeki. He is also due to visit Rwanda and Uganda.
