Coalition re-launches drive for new constitution

A coalition of civic groups on Wednesday re-launched an effort to draft a new constitution for Zimbabwe, AFP said on Wednesday. The National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) planned to convene a conference on 31 March to gather all major civic, political and religious groups in Zimbabwe to discuss how to draft a new basic law, NCA leader Thoko Matshe told a press conference in Harare. Since the referendum, the country has continued to operate under the constitution bequeathed by Britain at independence in 1980.
