FAA accused of banditry

    JOHANNESBURG

    Some members of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) have allegedly turned to banditry in Namibia’s northern Kavango region, the official news agency Nampa reported on Sunday. It quoted an unnamed resident of Mutwarandja village, approximately 25 km east of the regional capital Rundu, as saying that former UNITA rebels who joined FAA last year were especially involved. The dispatch mentioned three recent incidents in which men wearing FAA uniforms allegedly took part in local thefts, and in one case murder. Nampa said all the cases were reported to the security forces who took action.
